iPhone 3.0 Installation

Well the time has finally come and iPhone OS 3.0 is here. This is just a quick video of me installing the new OS and then a very quick run through at the end. Check back early next week to see a video demonstrating all of the features. HP Pocket Photo Frame Unboxing

This is a photo frame from HP that is really small and made to be carried in a purse or pocket. In this video I am unboxing it and giving a quick overview of the product.

By the way I am sorry for not having much of a post this week, but I am really busy with the end of the school year and such. Not to worry though I am going to be producing a lot of content this summer.

New Macs (Early 2009)

Well Apple has come through again and released a new set of their desktop computers. Some upgrades are not really that great though. Apple has updated their Mac Mini, Mac Pro, and iMac systems. All of these systems have seen upgrades in the Graphics, RAM, Hard Drive, and CPU departments. Watch the video to find out more. iMovie '09 Demo

This is the iMovie '09 demo. iMovie '09 is included in the iLife 2009 suit which is available at Apple's Website. The new version if iMovie has a lot of new features to offer and is a real improvement over iMovie '08. The thing was with iMovie '08 that they had removed so many basic features that most movie makers will use. They have fixed this problem in iMovie '09. That means if it was the features that were holding you back from upgrading then you should get this. However if you are still using iMovie HD ('06) because you like the timeline view than you are out of luck. (They have removed the iMovie HD download from the site by the way.) I think if you gave the new interface a chance then you would like it once you got used to it. If you are still longing for the timeline view then stay with iMovie HD, gripe some more to the big "A" or get something else. OS now lets get to the new features,as there are quite a few.

They have added a new advanced editing mode in iMovie '09 that turns on more advanced features that novice people would not know about. Included in this "advanced" feature they have given us an advanced editor. It really is hard to get used to at first, but as usual you find that it is really intuitive once you get to know your way around. You just have to play with it a little bit.

The next thing that Apple has added are the per-built themes. These make it really easy to edit a video. All you have to do is select a theme and iMovie will automatically mach up sound, transitions, titles, and more. This is a quick and easy way to impress people with a few simple steps.

One really neat thing that is now available to us is the travel maps. If you have ever seen Indiana Jones then you know what I am talking about. Remember that plane on the globe that shows up whenever he goes to a place? This is what travel maps is.

There is also now a video stabilization tool that will transform your video from making people sick to stunning your family members with the technology available at your hands with you Mac.

As usual there are also some other things that are like the icing on the cake. Apple has added a ton more titles and transitions along with a new full screen mode.

Overall I am impressed with iMovie '09. What do you think? Is ti enough to get you to upgrade? Let me know.

iWeb '09 Demo

In this Video I demoed the new version of Apple's iWeb program, which is a great and easy way to create a website. They have not really added any new features, but they have improved old ones.

The first thing that I would like to note is that there are now considerably more themes. There is bound to be a theme in there that you will like. Keep in mind that all of theses themes are really nice looking. Apple has done a great job with looks.
Next Apple has improved the way that you add objects to your site. They have added a really easy to use bar on the right that ties into iLife to let you access the rest of your media.

Also included in the Media side bar is widget functionality. Apple had added a few of their won that would be useful for a everyday site. If you like to be a little more custom though then just add a custom HTML widget that will allow you to add in what ever you like.

Lastly, there is now a better way to upload your websites. Rather than uploading the whole site agin iWeb '09 looks for the files that have been changed and only uploads the files that have been changed, which makes for faster uploads. Also you can upload you site to your custom domain by simply using the FTP uploader.

So there is not much new in iWeb '09 and it is defiantly not a very motivating upgrade, however some of the other items may convince you to upgrade. As far as I am concerned iWeb '09 is simply icing on the cake. Please Comment

GarageBand '09 Demo

This post is the next in the series of iLife '09 demo posts. This is the GarageBand 2009 post. Apple has made a few improvements in the music editing software, but will it be enough to persuade an upgrade? Lets find out.

They have added a new feature that allows you to basically have a virtual amp on your guitar. I have no clue how good this works because i don't have a guitar, but it will probably work well. This is a very simple thing that allows you to add basic effects and customize the sound of you guitar if you happen to be recording it.

The last thing that I would like to mention is the new lessons. This is really the most compelling feature that they have put into GarageBand '09. This essentially allows you to learn how to play either the guitar of the keyboard. There are (from what I can see) a wide variety of lessons that are $4.99 in the lesson store. GarageBand includes a few starter lessons to let you see if that is something that you would like to spend money on. This is overall the highlight of GarageBand '09 and it will be interesting to see if they will add more instruments later on.

So what do you think about GarageBand '09? I have not been able to test out most if the features and see how they work, so it would be nice to hear back from somebody to let me know how it is.

iPhoto '09 Demo

If you didn't already know there is a new version of iLife out. Inside of the suit is the new iPhoto '09. iPhoto '09 is packed with new features.

The main thing that I would like to take note of is the Faces future. This is built in face recognition functionality that allows you to name people in your photos. iPhoto will then take the information that you have given it and use it to automatically identify photos in the future.

The next thing to take note of is places. Places will really shine if you have a camera the embeds geo tagging information into your photos when you take them. This will allow iPhoto to map out exactly where you were when this photo was taken. Don't fret though if you don't have a geo tagging camera, as you can still manually add meta date to your photos. The results won't be quite as exact as with a geo tagging camera, but it will still prove useful. Once you are done telling iPhoto the locations for your pictures it will then give you a nice map view of the pictures and where they were taken.

Some other things to note are the new slide show themes (which are really cool),advanced editing features ,direct uploading to facebook, and direct uploading to flickr.

All of the things that I have listed above are included in the video above this post. iPhoto '09 is a really slick photo managing program and will really help you keep your multitudes of photos stay organized without you even having to do much work. iWork '09 Round-Up

Over the past few days I have been writing a doing videos on the latest line a office software from Apple, iWork '09. This post is just strictly about wether you should upgrade or not. That is a very debatable thing. First off let me say that if you don't at least have iWork '08 then I would suggest that you upgrade. Also if you use iWork on a regular basis then I would suggest that you get the new iWork '09.

The first application in our round-up is Pages. This is the word processing application that is in iWork. The new version of Pages includes many new features. Full Screen, this is something that has been needed for a while and they have finally given it to us. WHat this allows you to do is block out everything on your computer except the things that are relating to Pages. Dynamic outlining, this is a very complex feature that lets you organize and categorize the data in your document. They have added integration with Math Type and End Note. Next up in the Round-Up is Numbers '09. Apple has also added some new features in Numbers '09 that will allow you to make spread sheets better, simpler, and faster. The main thing that they have added in Numbers '09 is the multitude of formulas that you have access to. They have given you a new inspector of sorts that will allow you to view the formulas available to you by category. There is also a new way to organize your spread sheets. You can do things by category which is really nice for keeping them looking good and organized. Numbers '09 has also experienced updates to charts, the template chooser, and the sharing. The last and most compelling updates are to Keynote '09. Key note has seen some new transitions. Apple has given us a new and cool way to transition objects from one slide to another called Magic Move. They have also added some new text transitions that will give your slide show that little extra bam. On top of all of this Keynote know has some new and nice looking templates and chat textures, an iPhone remote application, and of course the new sharing features. you can read more about Keynote '09 here: Keynote '09 Demo Post.

So what is the verdict? Should you upgrade?

• Pages '09: No


• Numbers '09: Yes


• Keynote '09: YES!

So yes you should upgrade. If anything the new things that you can do just to make you job easier are well worth the $79 that it costs to upgrade. Please Comment and let me know what you think about pages.

The last application that is included with the iWork '09 suit is Keynote '09. Keynote has come a long way over the course of the last two years. The new version is great. I love it. They have added so many new features to the '09 version that for me Keynote is the best and simplest presentation program. Some of the new features to features to look for are the new transitions, more themes, and better animations.

The new transitions and animations are great. The main thing to look for is what Apple is calling Magic Move. This is a feature that allows you to make really cool transitions with a click of the button. When you have some objects on a slide and you have some of the same objects on the next slide then Keynote will figure out a great and innovative way to make these objects move from slide to slide. (This is a bad way to explain it watch the video to find out more.) They have also added some new text transitions; all of which are demoed in the video. Also there are some new textures and animations for the charts. All of things things jut bring a boring and plain presentation to life. (I know if the teachers would do this at school it would really help me from falling asleep.)

There have also been some advanced sharing options included. You can upload to iWork.com, you can export to a Powerpoint file, as well as you can export to a Movie and share to youtube. All of this added with the features above make Keynote totally rule over Powerpoint.

So if you ask me if I would recommend you getting Keynote '09. YES! if you use a presentation program at any time than this is the one to use. In my opinion Keynote alone is reason enough to buy the new suit of software iWork '09.

Numbers '09 Demo

Also Included in the latest edition of Apple's office suit called iWork is Numbers '09. There is not much to cover in this demo although there are a few things.

They have added a new and better way to manage the formulas and how you can use them. This includes a new inspector if you will that is devoted to the formulas. This allows you to see all of the formulas that are available to you with a simply category view. They also added a view that you can turn on in order for you to see what formulas you are using on a page and the information about them.

The next big thing that they added is a way to categorize your spreadsheets. For example if you are keeping a log of information for people in your company you could categorize the information by what section of the company they are in. This is a really innovative way for you to organize those large spreadsheets and not get confused.

They have also added a new capability so that when you copy a chart from Numbers to Pages it will stay in sync when you edit it in Numbers. This is a great way for you to stay sure that that chart you put in your document is up to date when you edit it on the spreadsheet.

Some of the other things to look of is the addition of more themes for you to work with along with more ways to share, including export options to PDF and Excel and of course sharing to iWork.com.

Should you upgrade? Well if you don't use Numbers very much or for anything to advanced then don't upgrade unless your are dying to upgrade. However if you use Numbers on a regular basis then UPGRADE for sure. Some of the features will save you so much time that it is well worth the $79.

pages '09 Demo

As you know Apple released a new version of Pages in their office suite known as iWork. This is a video of me demonstrating some of the things that can be found in the new version of Pages (Pages '09). Some of things to take note of are the new full screen view and some of the Math Type, new themes, dynamic outlining and Endnote integration. This may or may not be a compelling upgrade for you. It is $79 at the Apple website and it really doesn't offer that much in return in less you use office software a lot or some of the new features here are really what you want. As for most people Pages '08 will do just fine for the little things every know and then. I would however upgrade if you don't at least have Pages '08. Also keep in mind that pages is a part of the iWork '09 suite and there may be an application that will compel you to upgrade the whole suit. iWork '09 Unboxing

You probably know that Apple recently announced that they were going to release a new version of iWork as iWork '09. I recently received a copy of this and this is the video of me unboxing it. I am also going to be doing some demos of the different apps included that will be posted throughout the week. Enjoy and please comment.

New Mac Pro

Ok so I got this brand new Mac Pro for Christmas and it has 2 GB of RAM and 2 2.8 Ghz Intel Processors. Here is the unboxing video. Keep in mind that this is not in HD it is just Normal Resolution. The HD stuff will be coming in the new year.

New in 2009

I have been doing this whole video blogging thing for about six moths and I feel that it is time for improvement. What better time to do that then at the start of a new year, so I decided to make some changes. Listed below are some of the things that you can be looking forward to.

• Better Quality Videos. I am going to start doing my videos in full 720p HD quality (1280x720) Resolution. I am also looking for a way to get the screen casts in a way better quality.


• Better organized videos. I will begin planning my videos before hand so they won't just sound like I am rambling about some boring topic.


• Also there is a possibility that if I get the traffic I need that I will launch my own site. This will allow me to make a more custom experience and interact more with my readers.

So that is what you can be looking forward to in the new year. Also note that I am going to be taking a break for Christmas. I will have a video up the first weekend in 2009 hopefully with all the improvements listed above. New Mac Books 2008

I have been waiting to do this until I could get a good chance to do a quality review. I recommend that you watch the video as this is simply a repeat and show notes of what has been said there.

to start off I see no reason to not like the new design as others have said. I personally have no problem with the new design. I like it and I think that it will mean more possibilities in the future. I will first list what I think would be some cons (I have not actually touched one). For the Mac book low end I see no reason for there not be be a back lit key board. I can't be that much more expensive to put one in there, and I know a lot of people who don't need the high-end computer that would like to have the back light. Also why in the world would they take away the firewire? Apple invented this didn't they? Anyway people really would need a more powerful computer like a Mac Book Pro to edit video. Even though some people just import then upload to Youtube. i guess you could use a USB adapter, but it would go slower. Also this seems like it would cause a problem with an external HD. The last con that I can think of now is that there is no mat screen. Unless there has been a major change you can't even use your laptop outside or in a bright room unless you want a mirror.

Now on to the Pros. I love the new more durable (or so Apple says) brick technology. Also I love the new track pad idea. Not only do you not have the button at the bottom yu now have a mouse with multiple buttons on a track pad. The question I have is can you get a program to remap what the different gestures to so you can possibly like have a fully functional "multiple button mouse". The next pro which isn't that big of a deal is the price. The reason I say that is that the price is still high and they will have to bring it down about 2-3 hundred dollars to cut into the Dell and HP market.

Now on to some clarification about some things people are complaining about that aren't problems. the track pad is simply one whole button (the whole thing depresses). It isn't that horrid touch click feature that we all hate because we all end up screwing something up trying to use it.
